d16y7 bottom end- d16y8 head (mini-me)
well i have a stock DX motor about 70000 miles on it and i am thinking about upgrading what i got and doing a mini me i found a full EX head for 200 bucks with about 50000 miles complete with manifold and sensor but my question is i heard that it will raise my compression to like a 10.2.1 or something like that.
well i want to go turbo and i am just thinking that if this does up my compression how or what would i need to do to say run a apex turbo kit intercooled with cams valves springs and retainers. and for bottom end rods and pistons.
like would i jsut get lower compression pistons or how would i go about this or would a mini me swap not work good with a turbo set up?

Pistons / rods is a waste of money on a D-series bottem end unless you sleeve the block. On the mini me swap, the turbo kit will be fine with tuning, you can run up to 10-12psi safely on stock internals. any higher boost, and i would sleeve it. Not sure on the compression though, Since the y7 and y8 are pretty much the same bottem end, i dont think it would raise that high. it would be closer to the y8 compression ratio.
Edit: click link below in my sig... that should help

high compression + turbo = baaaad idea...most people opt for a lower compression thats why they turbo the DX motors cuz its the "underdog of all underdogs" its a suggestion but boosting on 10.2:1 is bad!

one word.... tuning. and besides, whats the gsr compression??? and the b16's compression?? It just leaves alot less space for error.. and if something goes wrong.... your fucked... but put out alot better numbers when done right.
Edit: your right though, gotta love the under dog of the crew.
