d16 motor swap problem
My boss has a 98 manual d16, ended up throwing a connecting rod. So we got a motor shipped to us with 120,000 miles out of an automatic, we installed everything right, we used his alternator, dizzy, timing belt from his blown motor. We go to start it and nothing, the cooling fan kicks on & all the lights inside/outside work. all fuses & relays are good.
What can i check???

Did you use the manual ECU? Not that the automatic would not allow the car to start, it would most likely not stay running if you used the auto.
Need more of a discription of whats going on. Does the starter/solinoid engage and click? Do you hear the fuel pump? Battery charged? Could be a connection you missed somewhere? Go back and retrace your work.
Let us know what exactly happens when you turn the key.

yes, we are using the manual ecu. no fuel pump, no click of the starter, headlights & all the other lights work. like i said fuses & relays are good, grounds are all connected.
we are running out of ideas.

make sure you check the ground that goes from the trans to the inner frame. I forgot to put this on and had the same problem. then my buddy said "wheres the ground?" Doh!!! put the ground on then started it right up.

As for the "no fuel pump" main relay maybe, and the "no click of the starter", check grounds if that doesnt work, try straight wiring (or whatever its called) the starter run a wire straight from the batt. to it and see what you get.
