Default d15b7 gas mileage?

i just bought a 95 coupe for my girlfriend and its getting horrible gas mileage. i get close to 400 miles a tank with my del sol shes barely getting 250-275. i thought the d15 was supposed to be economical? i just did plugs wires cap rotor and fuel filter. i cant figure it out unless its just the fact that its auto? or just the **** gas shes putting in? we'll wait and see but im stumped. anyone got any ideas???

I get 40mpg all day long in my LX. Check the ignition timing, clean the O2 sensor and injectors. If the automatic trans is slipping, you could see reduced fuel economy. Also check for a brake caliper or drum that is dragging. I had that happen to me once.

no she usually does 60-65. no cel's. i just replaced the rotors and pads. have to check/adjust drums. it also doesnt shift right away it feels like it revs to 5000 before shifting. but idk never drove an auto civic and cant really tell cause of gay cluster. it also shifts really hard possible trans mount? mileage seems to be getting better maby around 25-30 now that i replaced ignition parts.

auto Civic's get worse mileage than the 5 speeds, by a wide margin especially around the city.

On the highway, the difference is minimal, and in some circumstances the auto will actually have higher FE.

Does all her tank consist of highway driving? If so, she should be getting higher than 25 assuming the trans isn't slipping.

Harder and later shifts are due to low fluid or damaged tranny. I get 25ish in the city, 35ish on the highway

I saw terrible gasmileage with bad splugs/wire, and shitty cap/rotor. Changed those, changed the oil, new O2 sensor, 1/3 can seafoam in oil and gas, sucked through the brake booster 1/3 can, 100 miles later, got my current 35mpg highway versus [previous 20-25.

Hope this helped

That they do. When I swapped a 5 speed into my sedan a few years ago I gained about 100km a tank (60 miles) above and beyond that she could have a lazy O2 sensor, tranny shifting late or slipping (usually the ones i've seen that were bad shifted really late and quite hard.)

Actually, My del sol with a B7 auto gets damn near the same mpg as my old EF B2 manual. I think its cause most of my driving is on the highway, and the extra mass of an automatic gives better mpg because it takes less gas to maitain a certain speed, versus a lighter manual tranny that looses its momentum more easily. My old civic definetly got WAY better city mpg though.

and x2 on the tires thing, I had forgotten that. Ive seen a difference of 5mpg from bad alignment and under inflated tires, to a good alignment and properly inflated tires.
