Default D15B timing issues this morning :(

Helping my friend finish his motor and I can't seem to get every thing lined up correctly. I figured ive done this enough times by now but I guess not.

D15B- Using a VX Belt and water pump a Z6 tensioner. I took pics from different angles. It looks pretty close but after I turn a complete rotation it looks slightly more off.

Just wanted to point out that if I line up the 7 O CLOCK the 9 and 3 O CLOCK lines do not line up perfectly with the arrows on the timing case.

I thought I time this just like the Z6 with the 7 O CLOCK line? Heres that it looks like after turning it 3 teeth and tighting tensioner and 1 complete rotation.

Im super confused now.. I did a lot of searching and found this info from a diff site.

"Setting timing: You set the timing on the cam gear as you would on on a D15z1--using the TDC indicators that parallel to the head with the "UP" facing up. You do not use the timing indicator on the 7 o' clock position of the cam gear. Just to be on the safe side when checking timing, use a long rod and stick it inside the number one cylinder to make sure you are actually at TDC. "

Well do I time it like a z1 or the z6?

Use the 7 o'clock pointer on the timing cover. It looks good in first couple of pics, but then after it's tensioned it looks like it might be off a tooth. Sometimes it's hard to tell though.

The OP is using a D15Z1 timing belt. Does he need a D16Z6 timing belt?

It should ok, really I've heard you can run a Z6 belt when using the Z6 tensioner, and that a VX belt might be tight, however using one or the other doesn't affect the timing.
