what transmission r u guys using, i had a d15b8 block with a z6 head, and cx trans it fell like poop under 3k, trans has a big difference in how fast the car will feel, and also when you do a mini-me swap, you should use a P28 ecu from a D16Z6 unless your using the stock d15b ecu.....

By mechanical timing, I mean cam timing.
By "4.5 degree", I mean that unless you get a y7/y8 cam gear or an adjustable cam gear, your mechanical timing will be off by 4.5 degrees (advanced or retarded, depending on how you installed the timing belt).

Well, Chode seems to explain itself in this certain situation. I knew it was something like that but I was thinking of VVTL-I for Toyota. Anyway, at least I was right about the VTECH thing... Also, to aid in your search for an answer to your question, I think the transmission might also be a major factor in why the engine doesn't respond well under 3K RPM. Try to get an EX or Si transmission otherwise you won't be able to experience the full potential of that motor. Believe me, I am still running my LX trans with my D15B VTEC motor.
