mini me ignition timing
hey guys.. is there anythying special to do when trying to set a minime ign timing ? not sure if things are different.
everything on head is z6 including cam gear.. z6 timing belt and the bottom end is d15..
when i get home later.. im going to line up pully mark with timing cover on d15 block..
then im going to make sure marks on cam pully line up horizontally with the head..
the timing light set to 0 shows me the tdc mark on the crank pully.. and that is with the dizzy all the way turned.. it needs to go like another 16 degrees it seems..

Re: mini me ignition timing (bushfreakz)
actually its most likely off by half a tooth because i heard that:
the D15 block is shorter in height than the D16, thus causing a half tooth error in the cam indexing.
This is why you have to index the D16 motors with the 7 o'clock pointer.
360 degrees / 38 teeth cam gear = 9.5 degees
cam spins as 1/2 crank speed, so 9.5 degrees / 2 = 4.75 degrees, or a half tooth. wiitarted
