D-Series Manifold Question
Im looking into an exhaust manifold for my ole D16Y7, current ones cracked and cat is fryed. I found a new one but the guy sais its for a Civic EX which to my knowledge has a Y8 in it. Will the bolt holes line up on the head? As well as will it attach to the rest of the exhaust system without modification?

Re: D-Series Manifold Question (TooManyTickets)
i bought a d-series manifold a while back, but what u have to realize is that ur cat is in the header, which means ur gonna have to buy and weld in a new cat, and ur gonna have some o2 senors location problems. thats why ur better off goin with a turbo kit. get all your problems and paychecks out of the way at once.

99% of the d series parts are interchangable..
if you swap to the ex manifold your going to have a cat put in the middle of your exhaust and the o2 sensor is going to relocated to the collector of the manifold

Re: D-Series Manifold Question (wicked_b16eg)
This manifold appears to be the same as the one on my D already, with the cat and manifold in one unit. Only its not an OEM Honda part. Everything looks right, so it makes me think this guy doesnt know what car it goes to.
And what makes it so attractive is its a California legal replacment, with the O2 sensors holes in the right place as well, Honda wanted about 700 bucks for one
There it is

Your model has a cat in manifold design which I believe you are aware of. The ex model has an under car cat. So, using the pic you supplied I am betting on the fact that the guy selling it does not know which model civic it is for.

Re: (Hittnthebz)
I got a y8 header for $100 shipped, mint condition.
I also got a new Catalytic converter (dot certified) from summit racing for $80 shipped.
With extending the wires and the welding etc the install will be about $50.
I'll have a great header with a new cat for not much. The factory y8 header is exceptional, arguably better than most sub $300 after market headers.

Havent seen any cats for this model civic(cat-in-manifold) where you must weld the cat onto the header. If he wanted to boost in the future and has the change to spend on it at this time, I say go ahead and boost. To say turbo your car cuz the cat needs replacement is ridiculous!
