Default d series cranks???

are y8 and z6 cranks the same? the reason im asking, is i got a free z6 bottom end and i bought a y8 long block. and the y8 was knockin. so im afraid that the crank might be screwd up. so i was goin to use the z6 crank. im building the y8 to go turbo and put it in my ej8. thanks for any info

i am using a y8 crank in my boosted z6, 10 pounds, 250whp, no problems... so my guess is that they are the same.

For most part the whole engine is the same.

Yeah the cranks will work. Whether they're the same or not I'm not sure.

the only difference between the z6 and the y8 is the 6 dosent have the tapped hole for the knock sensor otherwise i think just swap your plugs over it think? if they are even different??

I think z6 crank has more oiling holes. I suggest using z6 bottom end because they are far more reliable. Y8s have issues with spining bearings.

well i dunno if its gona happen now. my buddy got rid of the z6 block. so i might just build the y8. and hope the crank aint bad. that or i might just wait and go w just a b16. i dunno.

Just find another d series. I used to get complete swaps for like $200-250. Go to your local shops they prolly have some sitting around that are far better to build then the one you got that was knocking.
