D-series axle troubles. Please help!
I already searched. Anyway, my problem is that I'm putting a d16z6 from a '93 Si into a '92 CX, and the axles off the d16z6 won't go into the CX's hub assembly. It goes in a fraction of an inch, but then won't go any further. There is some rust in the CX's hub. So, I'm wondering:
Is this even compatable? ie: should the Si's axles go right into the CX's assembly, or are they different sizes/diameters/spline patterns or what?
Or, is the rust causing the trouble? I wouldn't think a little rust in the CX's hub assembly would be a big deal, but maybe it is? If so, how should I get this out, or should I just keep lubing/pounding and hopefully it'll go in all the way?
Wow that last part sounded dirty

they should fit in exactly the same. if your CX axles are OK, you can just use those. if you really want to use the Si axles, take a wire brush and clean everything with some brake cleaner. they put a wad of grease on the spline of the axle and use a mallet to tap the hub.

Re: (dantastic)
yea yea lube it up and pound it in
just remove the rust and it should slide right into place..as long as you lube it up real gooood..you might wanna take it out slap it in the face and then put it back in real fast..i hear they like that sort of thing
