Default Axles - no cotterpin point?

My dad(he has the garage and the air compressor) and I are going to be changing my axles on my d16z6. He went to go pickup the axles from a reputable shop we know the guy said there were no cotter pin holes.....?!?!? I remember seeing Tom's writeup and it said that you had to replace the cotter pin. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

There isn't a cotter pin on the axle, but they are on the ball joints.

Get a Helms.

to add to what tony said, the reason there is no cotter pin really needed is because after u tighten the axle nut, u dent it in the area on the axle. this supposedly keeps it from moving, thus the same method as a pin basically.

ok, I guess that is why you shouldn't base one installation off just one thing. I just thought it would be the same.

i dont think you understand it. top replaces a cotter pin on ball joints. not the axles. moving the ball joint out of the way is necessary when changing and axle thus the need for replacing the pin as you saw. its not directly related to the axle tho, but its needed in the process of removing one, get it?

You might be able to get away with using the same pin unless it breaks when trying to bend it out.

Yeah, I get it now. Sorry it was late and has been a very long day! Tomorrow we will see how it goes. The guy told me dad that he didn't think we needed a cotter pin, but hopefully he carries them in stock if this one breaks.

If you don't have a cotter pin I find that cutting a piece of metal clothes hanger in place of a cotter pin works well.
