Default CV Joints

How do I know if my CV Joints are bad? Every search I have made so far gives me a 'How To' for Installing. I just wanna know if they are bad.

Thanks,

Thomas

Two ways to know:

1) If they click, or make any sort of noise, while driving or turning, then they are bad.

2) If you visually inspect them, see if they are busted or leaking. That would also mean they are bad.

Replace those bad boys!

I read many pages about install. It sounds easy...

For those that have actually done it, is it easy for a noob?

just look at the boot closest to the wheel, those are the most notorious for busting...if there is grease slung all over the place, either replace the boot(unless the bearings are dry)....if you waited too long and hear a "clicking" sound while turning and accelerating, then you got a 2 hour CV axle job, buddy...have fun

the replacement is really simple, but time consuming....just unbolt the hub, steering knuckle, and part of the lower strut, and try to manuever the axle's hub out, and pull it out the tranny...not too hard, but it's time consuming...late
