heres the deal, both of my cv boots are torn through, but i know sometime soon like in a month that i will get integra ones put in. how bad can the axels get? i mean since i know ill be getting new ones put in in like a month no later than i just wanna wait. i mean can they break on me while im driiving? what happens when someone waits too long? i dont know how long theve been like this bc the previous owner didnt tell me and its not squeaking. wouldnt you say as long as i drive carefully, theyll last at least a month?

I'd replace asap if you don't know how long they have been torn. If it's been awhile, all the grease could have flung out and there could be debris in your CV joints.

what happens after that? how bad could it get, i just dont wanna have to replace them now when i know that ill be getting them replaced anyway bc of the swap about a month or less down the road.

If they are clicking & knocking when you turn or you get a lot of vibration when you accelerate, its time to replace them. You should still be good for another month after this starts, but not much longer after that...

yea there is no clicking and knocking? so is it possible it just stops after a while bc i just got the car

To be safe, you could just replace the axles. Which is not really cheap, but a lot of places will take the old one's back as core.

just get a grease gun and apply some grease everyday just to be on the safe side.

Go to AutoZone(TM) and get the Speedi-Boot(TM) It will replace the torn boot and only cost you $12.00 US. Installation is simple and may take up to 30 minutes.

This is a terrible idea. Then you get grease all over EVERYTHING.

This is a better idea, but still not that good. If you get it, only use it until you get the boots that are MADE for your axle...

Should probably just buy new ones though. (axles that is)

I've never seen them just stop (only gets worse). You should be fine until you get your swap. Don't put grease in them or anything (if you do only a tiny tiny bit), or it will just spin right back out.

I just want to add... if the bearings get screwed up, and then you fix the boot and continue to drive like that... You will have major repairs to do on your BENT frame.

if your going to replacing it anyway dont worry about it, my friend drove his legend hard as hell for about 5 months on completly torn boots before we replaced them. they still worked just clicked constantly, a month is no problem

i think im just gonna wait bc its not clicking that bad and i know for sure ill be getting them replaced in less than a month? wouldnt you guys do the same for the most part? also, someone said somethin about the bearings, can i get some more info on that? so the axels wont break, but the bearings can get so bad only if youve waited so long that it can mess up the frame? ill still be able to put integra axels on there right? i mean what is the worst scenario for one and second what is most likely to happen if anything even does if i wait until about a month to replace them?

get them done asap. i had the same problem but i was having some fun at work and doing some donuts when my CV popped out of place and got knocked out so hard it broke my axel.

i had to then get my car towed to a garage but its easy to fix and rather cheap but get it fixed asap

I'm gonna put it like this, drive as slow as possible(try not to have to go on the highway/freeway), accelerate as smoothly as possible, and get it fixed asap. If you can, don't even drive it unless you have to. Most people see this as a very minor thing, but if you don't want to have to replace your axles you need to do what you can to preserve them now. And the more you take care of them, the less you drive it, the less you are gonna screw up the chassis from all the extra stress.

Speedi boots suck. I guess its better than nothing though. I had the speedi boot on my civic and it still flung the grease out of the boot b/c its not one single piece.

That's what I was saying... You only use those when you are waiting for the vehicle specific boot, or waiting for new, or re manu'd axles. They aren't an actual fix, that's why they are so cheap.

Why does everybody in this thread think he is planing on fixing his axles. He clearly stated that in a month or so, he will replacing them with integra ones.
