Default Cutting CAI decrease performance?

I'm planning on cutting my AEM Hybrid intake into 3 pieces so if it ever rains (a lot of puddles here) I could just take out the middle piece (the elbow going down) and leaving the bottom screwed on the body to make it a short ram.

To make it into a CAI once again, i just have to put two couplers to cnnect the middle part. Will this decrease any power? thanks

Waste of time, and it'd create more turbulence, thus reducing velocity.

My advice, avoid puddles. I went 3yrs in Connecticut's nonsense with a CAI. You should be fine.

Do what you wish.

When its all together and the couplers are good and tight you should have the same performance as if it wasnt cut. When you take it off into a short ram then it will be less performance.

But it's very unpredictable where I live, it floods haha. It shouldn't take more than 2hp if i ever put couplers on right?

It probably didn't yield much more than 2hp. As stated, do what you want.
