Help aem cai !!!!!!!!
Alright a couple of days ago i put on my aem cai. i already had it cut for the bypass valve but i decided i didn't want to use it so i ordered the aem silicon connector. for the time being since it was already cut i used just one piece of it so it was basically a short ram. well today i got the connector and put it on so now i have the cai. when i went to drive it it drove like ****. had less power than the stock airbox and when i came to a stop my car died. i had no problem with the short ram though. what do you think is going on and how to i fix it. thanks
Okay -- It definitely sounds like you have a problem other than your CAI. Switching from a short ram to cold air will have nothing to do with your car dying....Id check other things before the CAI. How many miles are on the car...when did you have your last maintenence etc....were you sure that you didnt...eek... drop anything into the throttle body when you did it?
did you make sure to clean off any metal shavings from the piping after u cut and before you went ahead and put the intake on? That problem ur having is not something remotely normal from switchin from short ram to cai like the other guy said...

This is not an intake problem.</TD></TR></TABLE>
none of this stuff is neccessary. Look around. Use your eyes. Does something look out of place? Did you by chance loosen or have your TPS come upplugged or break? Are there any harnesses you moved or unplugged to make the install easier??? Just look around.

no i just checked em. i cant see any thing out of place. the only other mods i have at this point is a 5zigen fireball axle back. and now it is starting to make a popping, crackling noise. this only happens when i accelerate. it does not happen when i down shift or let off the gas?

another thread gone bad. . .yea doesn't sounds like an intake problem, do a compression test and see what she gets. . sounds like its its not breathing but if u took off the intake and it ran the same way, then its not the intake, unless u got sumthin sucked up into your intake mani. ro sumthin. . Did you do a full reset on the ECU or the 'Time-Saver' style. What I mean is, did you pull the negative cable, pull the ECU and back-up fuse in the box, and let it sit for 10-20 mins? (Not sure how long the Helms calls for, someone borrowed mine and hasn't returned it... 20 mins works though)
After that, replace fuses, reconnect battery and start the car. Don't forget to let it idle for 10 minutes.
Random misfires are a real *** pain - I've had a code 74 since I installed my AEM CAI... it comes and goes. Doesn't seem to affect power in my case though.
