crankshaft pulley

Default crankshaft pulley

i bought a bottom end of a D16Z6 with everything on it and want to take it apart without damaging anything. my question is: how do i take off the crankshaft pulley (keep in mind its just the bottom end and everytime i try it just spins the crankshaft)?? thanks for your help guys/gals!

you can put a couple of pieces of 2x4 between the counter weight of the crank and the block

crank pulley tool

you'll need to put the pulley holder tool on with a breaker bar, and then probably a pipe over the breaker. brace the pipe with something heavy... I did mine by driving a car onto the pipe. then 1/2" drive (at least) socket+extension+breaker bar+pipe extension over breaker and torque it the opposite way of it being braced.

I would recommend shielding your eyes and the car you're using to brace it since I broke a breaker bar the first time around and shot metal bits all over the place. otherwise, works like a charm

the same steps but with a impact wrench is easier

x2, use a big impact. if you dont have one just bring it to a dealership being as its just a bottom end thats just chillin anyway. its like 45 pounds

how much do they charge? i haven't had time to do it myself, and i don't see me having time anytime soon...
