Default Coolant and Transmission FLUSH

Hi, I was hoping somebody here could offer some advice. It's actually for a 92 toyota camry. The toyota dealer recommended that a engine coolant and transmissino flush be done to the car. I dont think either one of these has been performed on teh car every, or at least in the past 4-5 years. * I think*

Are these 2 things that should always be done periodically? the prices are
coolant flush: 90
trans flush : 150

I dont know much about cars and was wondering if I should just take their adivce and do it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh yea, its an automatic

you should always maintain the trans and coolant. on the trans since it is automatic is important to do fluid. you are way overdue. I always change auto trans fluid every 15,000 miles. some oem manufacturers say 30,000 to me that is scary as people drive hard and also some trans don't even use a filter. auto trans especially need it cause fluid is real important to its operation.

as for coolant that is imporatant also as that keeps parts from corroding and also keeps you from getting stranded.

poor maintenance is what I see a lot of that is why there are so many people are stuck on the road and paying more for work to be done. most cars if you just do the basics they will last a long time.

If you're mechanically inclined at all, you can do it yourself for much cheaper. Pick up a Haynes manual for like $15, some ATF for your tranny (the Haynes will tell you how much and what kind), some coolant, a bottle of coolant flush, and get to it man. Total cost for everything, including manual shouldn't be more than you would pay for just the coolant flush.
