Default coolant flush

trying to see if this method is correct...

drain coolant, then cap it off.
then fill with water and drain it till only water comes out.
drain fully and then plug it.
next lower the car.
then remove radiator cap and fill with a 1/2 gallon undilluted antifreeze.
then fill with water and add 50/50 mix to the resivoir.
then leave cap off and start motor and run until normal temperature;
while bleeding the air... then tighten and turn off engine.
fill radiator with 50/50 mix and fill the resivour to the max...

is this right?

dotn know if that is right (i say this becauseH-T is so politically correct )...but it would be the way i go if i didnt have acceess to a flush machine.

ill aslo add to your list... vvvvvv

i would jack car up for "bleeding procedure only". this allows the radiator neck to be the highest setting to get air bubbles out and trust me..you will get air bubbles whenever you drain the block. lol

it will take a couple of tries to get those air bubbles out..hondas are picky compared to other cars i have worked on.

you will be sittign there all night trying to fill the car up through the resovoir. you can go radiator side but be cautous if your adding while the vehicle is overheating. cold coolant on a really hot overheating radiator may crack the plastic. i have never seen this happen before but it sounds logical.

and one mroe note... turn heater vents on "hot" and full blast to help circulate the heater core hoses

if an air bubble gets trapped in the loop...it will be a hard time to get it out. no big deal but just frustrating for you. lol good luck

yea lucky me, but im fixing the kink now. i dont think it will be a constant problem. plus there isnt any coolant in the car. so when i fill it it might not even be there. but, i was told that there is a bolt that i can release the pressure/air from the coolant. do u know where its located? cause im filling it today...

some civic's have them...some dont.

if it does have a bleeder for coolant it would be located on the thermostat housing or somewhere very close by.

ok. how bout doing this?: fill the resivoir and the radiator full with distilled water and 50/50, and run the car with the radiator cap off till warm; watching the bubbles. refill if necessary... then cap it and make sure im all good.
