ConsistentMisfire/BadColdStart/NoStart
Hello HT,
I have a Honda Civic 1999 EX 5 speed manual transmission.
Last year my car wouldn't start so I replaced the starter. That fixed the problem at the time.
Thereafter my car on a coldstart (in any weather) shakes violently and misfires violently if I push the accelerator.
I replaced the rotor, dist. cap and wires. I do regular (synthetic) oil changes every 5k miles.
The only codes that readout are misfire cylinder 1,2,3,4 and random misfire.
I took it to the Honda dealer and they replaced my timing belt, my water pump and my cam and crank shaft seals. After that the problem went away until I took the car up to 100 mph. (I know the car isn't a performance vehicle , but it was the open road and I couldn't resist).
After the car gets up to operating temp the car ran fine. But now when I accelerate to higher speeds in any gears I get higher RPMs, but no more speed.
Today my car won't start. I am checking the main relay right now, but I'm looking for the root problem (the misfires). It's been a year of choppy running and I can't just give up I need to know!!!! haha
Sorry for the book

Re: ConsistentMisfire/BadColdStart/NoStart
I pulled the back seat and removed the fuel pump panel. The fuel pump is engaging.
I pulled the main relay and there is nothing wrong with it. In fact it looks quite good.
I about to rip my hair out.

Re: ConsistentMisfire/BadColdStart/NoStart
When were the spark plugs and fuel filter last replaced?
Have you resistance tested the coil?
Some auto part stores will test the ICM.

Re: ConsistentMisfire/BadColdStart/NoStart
I replaced the distributor in hopes of getting rid of all the misfires.
Unfortunately, I'm still not able to get the car to start.
The lights flicker when I try to turn it over.
