confused.. JDM D15B VTEC.

Default confused.. JDM D15B VTEC.

ok so i just bought another civic.
95 dx to be exact.
its a 5 spd and has a JDM D15b Vtec swap.

one thing i wanted to know was.. my engine has the d15b head that says Vtec wit honda under it..
but my block says ZC.
whats going on here?

ZC is the same thing as the USDM D16Z6. But i think it has a little higher compression.

also just found out this engine is running a p28 ecu.
arent they supose 2 have a p08?

P28 is fine. I believe P08 runs 1 wire o2 sensor. which isnt the greatest.

uh ZCs are d16a6 motors at heart...non-vtec....i think you have a ZC block mini-me'd with a Z6 head and a Z6 ECU (P28)

You have the JDM SOHC Vtec ZC block Witch is the same thing as a USDM D16 Vtec block they are interchangable same power 120-130 hp.

It may just have the D15b head for whatever reason, the cams are more aggressive I do believe (if the ZC SOHC is identical to the Z6, I'm pretty sure the JDM B has more aggressive cams) - the guy coulda bent a valve or something and needed a replacement.

its should say D15B and thats it. yours is not a jdm d15b.

I'm not sure what the difference on the heads would be. I know its has slightly different compression but just by looking at it i dont know.

but from what I hear is that the SOHC ZC has plenty of interchangeable parts of the D16Z6 so maintenance might be easier and has similiar power. I personally havent driven a SOHC ZC but I had a 93 civic HB CX with a JDM D15B and for SOHC it was pretty impressive. Much faster than my original 70 HP CX motor LOL.

is the zc block with sohc vtec is almost the same with jdm d15b?
