Re: sohc zc vtec (stohc_hatch)
Yes, there are three JDM ZC's that were stamped with the ZC code. Two were from the prior gen of vehicles, one being a sohc non-vtec, the other being the more well known dohc non vtec 1.6. Then there was the third, which is the one you have. It's basically a D16Z6, and you can run it off of a US P28 ecu no problem.

there are actually a few more, but yeah, thats the just of it, the obd1 zc vtec is basically a JDM d16z6, and works best with a P08 ecu, but with a little knowledge a P28 can work, really depends on what car you are putting it in.

Re: (schardbody)
Like stated before, the stock p08 ecu will work best in stock form.
the p28 can work with a little modification and will likely be a better platform for tuning for boost later.

i have to ask why everyone says that??? once an ecu is chipped for boost with any program its basically a generic ECU, the program determines everything, not the actual inner workings as they are all the same basically, with the exception of a few emissions components.
i keep seeing people say get a P28, its best for boost, or its easiest to chip, or something like that, it makes no sense.

It has to be what everyone and their mom uses for some reason...
Though I totally agree with you on them all being similar/identical once chipper/tuned.

its what everyone uses because thats what everyone keeps saying is best, so people grab em, because they know they can charge more for them. even a p05 ecu once chipped, if vtec is added, and converted to manual if necassary, is gonna be IDENTICAL to a P28.
