Default compression test results...

did 1st compression test on my 98 civic
d16y8 100000 miles

warmed engine till fan came on , removed fuel injector fuse... unplugged what you young guys call dizzy.. im catching on!!!
removed all spark plugs..
checked every cylinder by full open throttle .. cranked engine 5-7 times checked reading...
1st cylinder 150 psi / 2nd 170 psi / 3rd 170 psi/ 4th 180 psi
2nd reading same
talk to me guys
how do these numbers look???

Cylinder #1 looks low compared to the rest. Shouldn't vary more than 10% of each other

Sounds like the exhuats valve is going bad, might wanna take a look at that. Although it at that little bit of a deviance in pressure you may not want to take the head apart just to find out.

do i need to look into this right away??
car runs great
i've had for a little under three months
daily commute 50 miles
one way!! needed economical vehicle
found this honda
starting to enjoy the hell out of this car
compression test worries me!!

I said valve, not ring, you are confusing the head/valves with the block/pistons. Take a look at this site and you may understan better http://autos.yahoo.com/maintai....html
