code 7 and 14 NEED HELP!!!
My buddies got a 97 del sol S model and he just did a Boosted B16 swap. He converted it over to OBD1 and is running an S300 ECU. Now when he starts it codes 7 & 14 show up. TPS and IAC valve... We ohmed out the TPS and that's w/in limits, checked the TPS plug and the wires seem to be fine. Also w/ the IAC we checked the wires and they seem to be fine as well... What else can be causing these codes to show up? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
Shane
Edit*** Found out the problem w/ the TPS problem... Although ohming out w/in limits I took the TPS off and there is a fork type of thing in the throttlebody that the TPS uses to get it's signal from. Well one of the forks were bent. I bent it back kinda where it should be and the code 7 is no longer...
EDIT***** Found the fricken' IACV problem!!! Ok so here is the cliff notes version...
IACV plug wires are blue w/ yellow strip and Yellow w/ Black stripe
-Thought blu/yel went to pass. plug cluster
-traced the blue w/ yellow stripe on a spare harness I had laying around
-found that blu/yel went to driver side plug cluster
-I know that on the pass side there's a 4th plug w/ nothing attached that has the black w/ blue stripe in it...
-I jump the wire from the driver side to the pass side (to test) and what do you know...
NO FRICKEN' CEL!!!! So now I need to either route that wire some how or just turn it off w/ the S300.. Boy does my buddy owe me! LOL

This is a 97 Del Sol S with the Y7 motor. The Y7 came with a 3 pin rotary IACV. You would need to swap a pin over on the ECU connector and also swap the plugs on the harness to the 2 pin connector.
Make sure the TPS is working and is not broken again.

No one has a 2 pin circle plug and the other is a 3 pin oval/circle plug... I'm running out of ideas... I even checked the wires down to the ECU to make sure that the conversion harness wasn't messed up...

Not trying to be a dick but did you read the entire post? We knew what the codes where we just need to know what else can cause the problem? Thanks for the bump though

Re: (ek_chris)
I've ohm out the TPS and it's with in limits. The only other thing that I can think of is to trace the wire and see if it's cut anywhere and what not...

I realize that you checked the ohms of the TPS and everything came back peachy so there's no chance in hell that it can be that, right? Well just IN CASE..try a different TPS (Not too hard to find for a B16, is it?) and see if it still throws the code after d/c the battery or pulling the backup (ECU) fuse for 20 seconds.
Just something else to try. I know you said you tested it, but it's something worth a try.

Check the plug by the battery where the engine harness plugs into the chassis harness. Sometimes the pins can pull loose or the plug just doesn't seat all the way.

Just having a conversion harness from OBD2 to 1 does not make the 3 wire IACV peachy. You always have move a pin over on the harness.
You need to move pin 14 over to pin 12 on the OBD2 Harness.
Here's a pic.

Thanks for that info! Just out of curiosity why does the orange one have to be removed completely? What does that go to?

You don't have to remove the orange one. It won't go to anything since the ecu doesn't use that pin and it should already be taped off by the engine anyway.

Hey you know how it says to move the wire from the chassis harness from one spot to another... Why don't I just move it from my conversion harness to keep the oem harness the way it is.. or does it matter?

Oh does it matter if we are using an OBD1 B16A3 engine harness? I swapped the A14 to A12 and removed A13 but still throwing an IAC code...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by F20Cteg »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">So you have an OBD1 B16 engine harness and the OBD2 subharness?
>>><<<</TD></TR></TABLE>
If the harness inside of the car is called the sub harness then yes.. The engine harness (under the hood) is from a B16 del sol OBD1 and the "sub harness" (inside the car) is the factory OBD2a harness... But I did move the A14 to the A12 spot.. I started the car and 14 still came up... I pulled the orange wire out, started the car and it still poped up... Oh and I reset the ECU every time too... I'm gonna be trying another IACV soon to see if that is the problem..
Is there a way to check if the IACV is bad?
Thanks again for your help!
