clutch won't disengage? check this out.
Figured I'd add this to the archive. Car is a 94 Civic Si w/ D16Z6.
My clutch has been slowly getting harder and harder to disengage over the past week. By Sunday evening, I couldn't get the car in any gear from a dead stop. My MC had been leaking for a while, so I assumed that was the problem and just replaced, but it didn't solve the problem.
I removed the boot on the clutch release arm and it was almost all the way through it's travel. I ran my fingers down the arm on inside the case and felt a big crack. After pulling everything apart, here's what I found.

The arm cracked and eventually completely failed right where the pivot is. The feeling was like TONS of air in the clutch line, no other symptoms or warning signs.
Anyway, like I said, this is just for the archive. Old threads with solutions have helped me out countless times here.

I will say, I've put 190,000 miles on this transmission and it's had an aftermarket pressure plate on it most of it's life. Not sure that's a reason, but....
The new arm was $52.19 from a dealer. Might be one of this things you replace with a clutch if your car/engine is approaching 200,000 miles.

I've heard of this problem before, thats why most d series guys would rather have the Y8 transmission bc it doesn't have that aluminun fork like the Z6 does. I don't know much about transmissions, but if i were you I would see about getting the Y8 fork instead of the Z6. I don't know if it will work, search to see if it will.

I had something like that happen to my stock clutch twice.
The first time was because the master cyl mysteriously ran out of fluid and needed to be bled and re-filled.
The second time the clutch actually fell apart and was wedged between the pressure plate and the flywheel.

The chassis has 252,000, I bought it with 33,000. It had a B16 in it for a while, was stolen and gutted, I bought it back from the insurance company for $300 and put the original engine BACK in. After 2 years on the shelf, this D16Z6 fired up, first crank. The car has been a warrior to say the least.
