Clutch/Transmission Problem No Idea
So I have no idea about clutches/transmissions. One of the few things I pay to have done. I'm going to do my best to describe the problem and will be active to answer any questions.
Clutch has 20k-30k Miles on it. I don't know what kind was used but it was brought to a mechanic.
Tranny is what came with the d16y8 and has 190k on it. 2nd has occasional grinds and Genuine Honda MTF was put in every 10k or so.
I was commuting 75 miles each way and heading up in a hill in 5th at about 80 I felt the clutch start to slip. I downshifted and was fine.
Over the next week it got so bad that I had could only push the gas pedal about an inch max without it slipping to a free rev. This meant I had to keep it high the rpm's in a gear much lower than I normally would. I had zero cash so I drove it for a week before parking it. It was driveable...but barely.
Is this just standard clutch replacement? I ask because it seems wayyyy too short for a new clutch. It was mainly used to commute. I might have lugged it a bit buy just keeping it in 5th on the freeway but I didn't drive it hard as it was my commuter.
If you need any more details Lmk
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Clutch/Transmission Problem No Idea
It's almost surely a worn clutch. If the pedal was not properly adjusted when the clutch was installed 30K miles ago, then it could wear out very quickly.
Do you have a garage to work in and some tools? I'd recommend that you do the work yourself this time. The job involves dropping the transmission, replacing the clutch and possibly flywheel, and then reinstalling. I found that a small relatively inexpensive transmission jack really helped out. This was the only specialized tool I bought for the job.

Thanks, wanted to make sure it wasn't something more sinister. I've seen the write-ups. Just looks like such a pain. At least the parts are super cheap.
