Clutch problem
Stock 98 civic dx original clutch 170k Miles
Noticed my clutch felt different last week. Now the clutch pedal goes almost too floor before it engages and I have to pump it many times before I can put into gear. No clutch slipping has ever happened going down the road. Anything to try before replacing clutch/ flywheel?
Thanks

Re: Clutch problem
This is a hydraulic problem-- either lack of fluid or a bad master cylinder.
When the clutch plate is worn out it will slip, that is the engine will rev up but the car doesn't go proportionally faster.

Update:
the reservoir was low and after I filled it and pumped for a while the pedal became firm again. The following morning the pedal is back to nearly the floor, but the reservoir is nearly full of brake fluid.
Also it's been single digits cold not sure if that has anything to so with it

Re: Clutch problem
try bleeding the clutch, if still the same issue, its probably the clutch MC, you can see the slave on the front of the tranny and see if there are any leaks, if its leaking replace it, the are both pretty cheap
