clutch opinions
im gona have to get a clutch soon and was looking into getting a stage 1 clutch for their durability compared to OEM clutches.
I have a stock 98 civic ex d16y8, would it be worth it to do this? what kinds of brands would you guys recommend for me?
a OEM clutch kit is $125 at Auto zone

You could go stock or stage 1, but the same price($125) you pay for that oem a few $'s more you can getta nice clutch kit off ebay...........personally I gotta stock y7 with a y8 tranny stuffed with a xtd stage 3, so really its all up to you. The stage 1 would have more durability than an oem clutch.

Word......I paid $40 for my clutch with 500-1000miles on it from a friend, but the clutch kit I have XTD stage 3 is $130 on ebay and there's different options on ebay as well. PM me you email and I'll send you a couple I had bookmarked to buy before my buddy offered up his.

Re: clutch opinions
I also want to throw my vote in for an OEM Exedy clutch. I picked one up through Amazon for $100 for a Miata. Worked out really well and was lighter than stock.

Re: clutch opinions
autozone doesn't sell OEM* it's OE replacement.. but for a stock just get an oem replacement or Exedy Stage 1 clutch..anything higher will be too much for the power you're not really putting out..just saying

Re: clutch opinions
oh my bad^^ now i know thanks.
il go with the exedy oem replacement since im not planning to do any motor work and it will save me 100$
but with ebay i would rather buy stuff such as this from a company even if i will spend 150. not a fan of ebay unless its something not important

Re: clutch opinions
I've run Exedy OEM clutches on most of my cars, including a mildly built VR4 and have always had good luck. My Civic (LS w/ GSR trans) had a SPEC stage one and it was fine as well. Just my .02

If you want to save some money, the cheapest place I've found for clutches was http://www.clutchflywheel.com.
