12 lbs fidanza flywheel is what I hear alot of people getting
you can go lower tho 10, 8, 6
as for clutch exedy stage 1 all the way
but if your not looking for aftermarket and race inspired, then I would suggest itr clutch and flywheel combo

Re: Best Clutch kit 2000 Civic Si
I'd do the exedy OEM replacement for regular driving. I like it a lot better than the stage1 for DD'ing. A used OEM ITR flywheel is an awesome upgrade. It's usually cheaper than buying aftermarket, and I feel it's of higher quality. I have a couple...but I'm probably not selling yet lol. If I were to sell, I'd say around $100 each is fair. It weighs like 13LBS. Perfect for DD.
If you feel as if you're going to want a more agressive feeling clutch or are going to see track use, the exedy stage 1 is good. It does have increased pedal effort and sometimes it feels a *little* vague. But it's real nice for an organic "sport" clutch. Better than other brands for sure.
I like the stock (genuine honda/acura) ITR clutch the best. But it's expensive as you can only get it from a dealer. My ITR came with a newer factory clutch and I love it. The pedal feels almost as light as the OEM replacement exedy..but it grabs like a stage1.
There are companies on ebay selling exedy OEMs for around $120 shipped. They also carry clutch/flywheel packages.

I've been told a lighter flywheel makes the car more responsive. A 12 pounder might be fine but not really necessary. Don't go too light though as I understand you will have difficulty while in first gear. As for clutches a stock replacement from Exedy will be fine. Don't go by stages. Go by the rated torque that the clutch will hold.

Re: Best Clutch kit 2000 Civic Si
The flywheel keeps the inertia of the motor going. I recommend a oem flywheel. Lightened flywheels kill the daily drivablility of any car. Say for instance if you take a flywheel off of a diesel it will not run because there is nothing to keep the inertia going. I recommend exedy clutches and despise spec clutches. I have a 2 puck spec in my z06 and it has given me nothing but problems. It really depends what you're after. I've driven all stock itr's and I love the clutch pedal and the responsiveness. It's personal preference and I hope this helped you some.

As for what clutch to use....unless you are making quite a bit more power than stock...the factory clutch is great.(exedy is the factory supplier, if you went to the dealer to have it done, this is what they would use) BTW, I sold nothing but clutches and turned flywheels for almost 10years, so I've seen just about everything.
I personally like a slightly lighter than stock flywheel, mabe a 12 lbs or so. If you go any lighter, you will sacrifice some draiviablity. The 12 is a great compromise.
As for flywheels, I would stay away from anything that is aluminum with a steel "insert"...the steel and the alumunim don't expand and contract at the same rate when they heat cycle. I have seen many of these come apart because of this. Stick to a factory, or type r, or if you do go aftermarket get a stainless lightened flywheel.

GREAT advice!! ALWAYS go buy the torque rating....every brand has there own version of "stages".

Re: Best Clutch kit 2000 Civic Si
You should ALWAYS resurface your flywheel when replacing your clutch. Why would you take all that crap apart just to take the chance on clutch chatter? If you are using your stock flywheel, just do it right! It usually only costs about 30 bucks to resurface your flywheel...anyone who wants more is ripping you off...

well i was going to put the clutch in myself so i wouldne know if it needs resurfacing when i take it off as ive never done this before

OEM Honda/Acura clutches are almost always made by Exedy, a few of them are made by FCC. An OEM Exedy or FCC clutch you buy on ebay is exactly the same thing you get when you buy one at your local Honda/Acura dealer, but for a lot less money.

It's up to you....if the car is a daily driver, yes. You can go with a little bit lighter flywheel but it really doesn't do much. Unless you plan on boosting it or some other upgrade that is going to add ALOT of power. Just stay with stock. I ran low 13's before I even started to pull the through the stock clutch.

I have the same car and I just did mine a few months ago. I went with competition stage 2 with a competition ultra light flywheel. It sucked at first when it came to breaking it in but man now that it is I'm extremely satisfied with it! It's not too tough on pressure, feels just like oem and that flywheel is the bomb! Immediately you'll feel a huge difference in acceleration and response. It's like I took a big load off the engine
