throw out bearing, its gonna be making a noise if its going out. wen u step on the clutch ur disengaging the clutch so the the throut bearing moves away from the pressure plate, so u wont hear a noise from it

nope
if it was input shaft bearing it would make a noise while your foot is off the pedal (clutch engaged) why? because when the clutch is DISengaged, the ISB is NOT moving.

Re: Clutch Noise (schlit)
i have the same car, and same problem. i too was told that it was the throwout bearing.
anyway, it started to happen to me not even a year after i got the car (2000). i've learned to live with it; doesn't really bother me anymore. hopefully it'll be gone when i get a brand new clutch

Once I get my Z6 tranny I'm going to pull my Y7 apart and learn all I can from it. No matter how much of this logical reading bullshit I do I can never get it unless I touch it.

im also gonna have to say TOB, pilot bearing dosent move when the clutch is engaged so i never understood how it can make noise when it dosent move.

Re: Clutch Noise (doublejz)
Got me???? If you're not pressing the clutch in all the way then I don't know.
BTW people...for future reference, when you hear a grinding noise and it goes away when you press the clutch pedal in, it IS the input shaft bearing, because the mainshaft stops spinning when you press the clutch in.
