Default Clutch Hydraulic Problem

I have a 1998 Honda Civic DX with a 5-speed transmission. My clutch pedal recently went soft. That is, there is no longer resistance when I press it. I originally added DOT3 brake fluid oil as the reservoir was low. It worked for a couple of days. However, it finally gave out last night. There is no longer resistance, including with the reservoir filled to the top.

I replaced both the master cylinder and slave cylinder. Then I bled the hydraulic system via the bleed screw on the clutch slave cylinder. That didn't pressurize the clutch hydraulics.

What else can be wrong? The clutch lines? The transmission?

Getting frustrated....

After mount both cylinders and bleed the system, Did you see If the slave is pushing and retract with the fork?

If not looking for a leak of fluid or air in the system. Check pedal adjusting.

If the slave is working properly you need to take a look into your P.P.

Thanks, Carlos. I am going to have a friend press and retract the clutch pedal tonight. I'll watch if the pin/ball on the slave cylinder pushes the fork on the transmission. Good advice.

What is a PP?

PP means clutch pressure plate. You might not have bled it properly...or there's something wrong with the clutch itself.

If there is still fluid in the master cylinder cup, then I doubt you have a line leak somewhere.

Did you properly adjust the master cylinder after installing it?

Regarding varying levels of fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. Over the last few days the amount in the reservoir decreased. I can't find the leak, however. Perhaps I am not looking hard enough. I've also added fluid the last few days and it temporarily worked. However, last night it was full and there was no pressure in the clutch pedal.

I replaced the pressure plate last summer. It's possible it could be faulty, but it's a new pressure plate.

Adding fluid doesn't necessarily remove any air that got into the system.

Was the master cylinder adjusted correctly? The whole system bled properly?
