Clutch is Going Out
how much does it usually cost to have a shop install a clutch for you? honda gave me a quote of 72/hr.
while driving when i'm coming to a stop and try to put it into 1st the car's rpm stalls or bogs and then the car dies. whats going on?

Re: Clutch is Going Out (bow tie)
If your clutch was going the car wouldn't bog out. You'll notice a steady decrease in power (probably hard to tell in something that only has like 90 horse to begin with). The transmission would actually be easier to shift into gear. Drive to a steep hill put it in first and try to keep the car in place using only gas and clutch, if the car starts rolling clutch is shot. On the same hill roll down in 4th at a fairly slow pace, press the clutch rev it and pop it in second if there's no engine breaking the clutch is shot. If neither of these are the case then it's most likely the first gear synchronizer. If its the syncro say good bye to your bank account.

Could be a bad pressure plate, master/slave cylinder. When the car bogs, does the clutch engage moving the car forward?

Re: Clutch is Going Out (Honda'sareslow)
maybe "stalls" is a better way of putting it. when i'm driving and stop at a stopsign/redlight and try to put it into 1st, i cannot actually put it into 1st without seeing the rpm drop as i'm trying to push the car into gear. and if i actually get it into 1st from a stop, the car's rpm stalls down and dies. i hope its not the synchro but i've been driving with a bad clutch for 3 weeks now just waiting for my new clutch to get in (no other means of transport). motor is JDM ITR w/ LSD.
if my explaination was hard to understand then picture this:
your drivng and you come to a stop sign. you stop and try to pop it into 1st. you cant. you release and press the clutch again and still cant push it into gear. as you push the lever trying to get into 1st you notice that the rpm drops a little the harder you push. you finally shove it real hard into gear and the rpm drops to zero and the car stalls. when the car is off you can finally put it into 1st, you turn on the car w/ the gear in 1st but just pushing the clutch pedal down the car rolls foward (no hill). this is my problem... my clutch wont be here for 3 more days any ideas on what else might be wrong?

Spend your money on tools and beer ( or redbull ), and have your friends help. It's not that hard, I did it with a floor jack, jackstand, and a buddy! Plus you might learn something, like did I really need a clutch?

oh its the clutch alright. but thats also what i'm scared of since i've been driving with a bad clutch for 3 weeks now, i'm hoping nothing else is damaged.

Re: Clutch is Going Out
Why does everyone assume it's the clutch itself? From the way you describe it, it sounds either like your clutch master or slave cylinder, or merely the fluid in the lines.
When you step on the clutch pedal, it should disengage the clutch, meaning the friction surface no longer makes contact with the flywheel. Jamming it into 1st gear and having the car stall sounds like the friction surface is still gripping the flywheel, as in the clutch isn't fully disengaging.
If bleeding the fluid system doesn't work (which I'd try first because it's cheap and easy) and both master and slave are ok, it may be your pressure plate. But I think you were a bit over-zealous to order the clutch kit right away.
