clutch engages too early when cold??
Within the last week I've noticed that the clutch engages way too early when I first start my car(about 2 inches from the floorboard). After I push down on the clutch pedal a whole bunch of times and drive for a little bit, it starts engaging at about the right spot(4 inches or so). It still drives fine and everything, the clutch pedal squeeks when I press it down but that's been happening for over 3 years so I dont think that has anything to do with it.
So anyone know what's going on? What could it be? Thanks in advance
This is on my 92 civic hatchback dx

"You can always bleed the clutch fluid. If you haven't done it before it might help and it certianly wouldn't hurt anything."
Just what i would suggest.
As far as the squeaking, it's either the clutch pedal itself (unlikely) or at the slave cylinder. Get some your favorite penetrating oil and pull back that little boot, and squirt a LITTLE bit right there on the ball of the slave cylinder. BUT BE CAREFUL! too much and you lubricate the clutch itself.

the clutch grabs ALOT better when it's cold. It's not a problem, it's a normal thing.
if you wasnt to waste some time when you go to work in the morning, hold the clutch out so it grabs a little but not enough to move the car. 1 minute and it should be fine.

This is true. Hydro vs. cable does not vary model to model, rather year to year.
A 92DX is certainly a hydro tranny.

Looks like it's getting worse.. the clutch doesnt spring back at all when it's cold, it just stays at the bottom. When I try starting the car, it jerks foward like it's in gear.. it starts working after I pump it a whole bunch of times though. You guys think the clutch is out or what? it still grabs hard so I dont know

As far as the squeeking goes, ignore it. Mine has done this for years, its just the spring.
