climate lights flickering. (not back-lighting)
Car: 2000 Honda civic EX sedan.
3 days ago i noticed that the climate indicators ( amber/green LED's; not the back-lighting used at night) were flickering bright-half-bright-half at about 2HZ. I saw else ware that corrosion can cause this so I took it apart and cleaned the board. same thing. also it appears i have lost my air mix and vent motor control. blower works normaly as does AC.
I don't know if it's related, but when i turn it's key on engine off, my licence plate lights only are 1/2 dim. they come on full brightness when turn on the headlights and turn complete off with the key off.
is it possible that these share a ground and that's loose? if the climate lights were random flickering i could buy that but it's very consistent.

That was the recirculate motor. I was showing it happens on all 3 lights yet they still function normal.

Try replacing the heater control panel or borrowing a known good one.

My guess would be that the heater control panel is bad, causing the self-diagnosis system to be stuck on and shorting the button lights together. Did you recently modify or work on the heater control panel? Any recent electrical problems or work?

My whole heater/ac panel turns on and off (nighttime lights). It's a little bothersome but them flickering would bother me more, especially in the daytime

If i adjust the brightness rheostat with the headlight switch off, I can control the speed of the blinking; from about .5 hz to almost solid with some flutter flickering.

Re: climate lights flickering. (not back-lighting)
i solved my problem.
As in my DIY for 01-05 cruse control not working with LED taillights found here. I've found out that there's nothing wrong with any part. The logic is relying on the filament of the bulb to pull it to ground, in this case, to make the climate lights bright.
Since i replaced only the non dimming lights to LED, the only path it had was though the rheostat to ground. That caused the flashing and caused my licence plate lights to be dim. i replaced one of my licence plate lights with a 194 bulb and instantly the flashing stopped. so if i want to go led, all i got to do is put a bypass resistor (or hidden bulb) across to make the climate unit happy.
