Clearcoat or gelcoat c/f hood???
Here's the deal the gel coat on my c/f hood is fading...I had it wet-sanded and buffed out 6 months ago but I figured it wouldnt last and it hasnt. I've heard its just best to get them clearcoated, however when I called the body shop they said it would probably be best to have it re-gel coated. Anyone have theirs clearcoated or gel coated again, how does it look now and how long has it lasted for. Thx.

I like the look of carbon fiber totally stripped with no clearcoat or anything. It looks like muscle fiber and hard as hell! Here's some pics of what I'm talking about on the HKS Altezza. Full CF body with the CF gloss stripped...looks like rippling muscle eh? :D
Hehe, and yes, this is the same exact thing I posted on the "other" site...

Actually Re-gel coating it is really not the way to go. I suggest you find a bodyshop that has some fiberglass experience. They will know how to prep the carbon fiber hood so it can be sprayed with a clear coat. I don't suggest more than 2 coats on the carbon fiber hood. That should be fine. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. Also some manuf. claim to use a high tolerance gel coat, but they are just cheap regualr gel coat that has really no gloss in it.
