Civic SiR - HELP me identify what type of b16a I have!!
Hey everyone, I just recently bought a 2000 civic SiR. This is my first civic that actually came with a b engine. (used to own a d16)
After registering the car, I noticed that the paper said "rebuilt". Also, i noticed that the valve cover is different from other 1999-2000 SiR's since the DOHC letters were bigger than the VTEC. It also did not have the "H" stamp, and on the bottom, instead of Honda, it says Honda Motors Co.
After, i checked the block stamp. It stamped "B16A" with no number after it. I knew it was different because a normal SiR would have "B16A2" right? Below that was a 5 million number.
I'm new to B engines , so could anyone help me identify what type of b16a this is? where it came from? and all that stuff.

rebuilt as in an R-title? is that what you mean? if so that means the car was considered totaled at one point in time but someone fixed it and got it re inspected

Not just any B16A, it is actually a old model, a 1st gen built in 1990....so that is 10 years "older" than the the car itself.
No, this engine is a 1990 model and still used PR3 pistons, so only 160hp, just like all usdm models. In Japan starting in 1992 for the 2nd gen, only then did the B16A get P30 pistons making it 170hp
Yes, this car is now a repair status according to the VIN and will remain that way. It could have been any number of things that the car could have been written off for....
- major accident with damage being half or more of the value of the car at the time
- expensive parts stolen from the car, and insurance just writing the car off
- could have been something simple like the old engine blowing up

1990 first gen b16a. 160 hp. the 5 milli number below the b16a stamp means it came from a civic sir from 89-91 and the 1 milli number below the b16a stamp means it came from an integra xsi.

It's an SiR. '99 - '00 Civics were called SiRs in Canada.
And like Deetz said it's a first gen B16A, it looks like whoever swapped it in was smart enough to reuse the Intake and exhaust manifolds off the original engine, along with the vtec solenoid.
