I say save up for 4 months and swap in a GSR and some bolt on's.

Singlecam's can rip when boosted, to do it right, you will be spending about as much as a GSR swap. So if that's the rout you want, go for it. Save up for 4 months, then buy everything together. Don't buy a part here and there, buy them all at once.

You will need-

Turbo
Tubular manifold
Intercooler with piping
Wastegate
Blow off valve
Manual boost controller
Oil feed/return line
Tapped oil pan
Downpipe
3bar MAP
Wideband o2
Boost gauge
Hondata/Crome/Neptune, becaue YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT TUNED.

My buddy used to have an eg coupe with a fully built turbo'd Dseries, and that thing hauled ***. Forged internals and a GT30 though.

to keep up with an type s going d or b series your gonna have to spend some money on either one you go with but if you work on your motor your got right now, if you really get into building it, like new pistons, piston rods, clutch etc.... get the parts ahead of time so when you drop your motor you can install these parts right away so you wont be carless for long and you won't have to wait for any parts cause your already did research and pre-ordered everything your gonna need for the car. But in my opinion d series sounds like your gonna have to do more upgrades to it like the internals in the motor.... on the bright side to this....though it's a real good learn opportunity because if you do rip a motor up and learn about the motor and learn what the upgrades can do for your car you'll be even more wiser and know the many direction you can go with you next build..

In the other hand if you go b series swap you should get a stop b20 block and a stock b16 head, golden eagle Vtec conversion kit, chip your ecu to hondata skunk2 cams, s80 (gsr) transmission, itr intake mani and you'll get torque and like 210 hp thats one of my friends setup lol he did it over time though this is something you can do....and keep building on and smoke the sh** out of that stock type s...lol don't get a stock b16 and slap a turbo on it, no offense to anyone that did this but it wasn't all that...it's not what people make it out to be cause thats what my other friend did and my friend with the b20Vtec N/A still smoked him...lol

A D-series can be boosted and built easily with a $5k budget.
Don't forget the clutch.

There's no way to do it without boosting it.

Okay then so all things on the table, instead of dropping $5,000 into my civic, would you recommend I use the money to perhaps use as a down payment on my own RSX Type-S would that be a more logical option as far as enjoying my car lol

This is a tech forum. Not a finance forum. It's your money. Do what you want with it.

A stock RSX would be "enjoyable", payments wouldn't be lol. I think a boosted civic is much more enjoyable though. Just my opinion.

I think the OP is just now realizing how much work this is actually going to take.

Quite possibly the case. But I say go for the boosted civ. But if you like RSX's, then so be it, not my style, but who am I to influence your decision.

I have decided to do a GSR swap and keep my car sorry to get off topic, just was unsure what to do but I realized just because my HP isn't the same as my buddies rsx doesn't mean I cant keep up, because Im alot lighter. Thanks for the insight, sorry I got distraught haha now I do research on GSR builds.

Nice choice with the GSR, I think I would rather have a I/H/E GSR > Boosted D.

Well my reasoning for going GSR > D Series Build is that a GSR Stock easily out performs my engine, so if I build off a GSR build from a technical and numbers point of view it should have more potential in my opinion, I'm also a noob haha

Not unless you build the block. So swap + build/boost is still more expensive down the road. And if you try to build N/A and try to boost later then your power will be limited due to the higher compression.

I'll take a built and boosted D over a stock or N/A anything all day long.

I'll boost the GSR, it'll just take me more time and more money, I hope to have everything finished by Honda Day in august but I know that will be quite the challenge.

Right now all you seem to want to do it go fast. If that's the case just buy an Ebay kit and go to town.

alrite first off only 3 people that posted on this thread sound like they know what their doing... first things first, get ready to waiste a good amount of money, dnt buy no none brand ebay spacial parts... i personally would get 2000 si em1 disc brakes all around or go hard and do a 5-lug conversion, buy quality name brand one peace suspension, allot of people recommend koni yellows+ground control coilovers with custom rates and ground control top hats if you plan on going low, i personally am rocking blox drag series one peace coilovers my car is slammed and im loving the ride and handling, build a motor on the side as you work on suspension and looks, after all it is your daily driver and i dnt think you should **** with the single cam it runs perfect and gets you from point a to point b until you have a nice swap ready for the car, maybe build a built b-series for boost or all motor, depending on your budget, youll definatelly will want some security if your going to be daily driving a quality built honda, removable steering wheel with lock, clutch lock, wheel boot etc... search on youtube ej6/ej8 tribute videos for insperation, google images has pics of bad *** cars.... i hope i helped any lol

I get what your saying about building an engine on the side however I have a plan to counter that, my mechanic is a performance specialist, he keeps a few GSR Engines in stock at a time and offers a full kit and swap for $3800 , I've been crunching numbers in my head, I could save up enough to do this by next fall without stressing myself or my wallet, so for now I'll focus on cosmetics maybe I'll post some pics this summer

Now you're more on the right track. Funny how with a little thought and planning we went from "a street legal work of art" to a nice simple GSR swap.
