civic has rough idle
So i just recently bought a 1992 honda civic. It is a 5spd manual with the d15b7 motor in it. The car starts fine when its warm but this morning it hesitated a little to start. It runs good but feels like its missing a little power and also idles rough. When cold the idle stays high till it warms up. After the engine is warm sounds like it idles at about 1000-1300 and consistantly drops down to what sounds to be the proper idle speed. Its ok on gas but i know it could be better. Previous owner told me he already changed the spark plug wires and the distributer cap. Any ideas on what could be wrong with this car?

every car can be kept running good. check out some 30+ year old datsuns or hot rods.

No kidding. Past doing routine maintenance there is nothing to be done. Everything you have described is typical for a Civic of that age. Are you getting CELS? Is the idle surging or does it idle at a consistent speed once warm? You say it idles rough. Explain that. Do you know what the proper idle is for your car?

my 92 lx does this and honestly i don't worry about it
to describe it it idles high for about a minute and then drops to 1200 in which you can see the steering wheel vibrate a little bit then everything goes to normal and just idles at 1200ish the rest of the way
i know several people with stock 4 doors and all theirs do this or something similar
itsa 19 year old car even if it's well taken care of you will have some signs of age somewhere
