civic hx internals in d16z6
Did a search and came up empty handed! I have heard that these civics which are powered by natural gas come with forged pistons and shot peened rods from the factory... Has anyone used these on a sohc vtec? My friend is going to turbocharge his sohc vtec so I figured that would be the best route to take IE factory forged parts. Plus I can get them pretty cheap!! Any information is a appreciated. Thanks

That is not the HX model, the CNG-powered Civic is called the GX. Don't know if they are forged for real though, but there has been discussion on them on the web, do a google search or something. I don't know though, I seem to remember it being discussed that they were hi-compression so that would not be good for the turbo...

Re: (bluebird)
DO NOT use GX pistons with a turbo. the GX has really high compression which is bad for a turbo. I believe that the rods are the same as any other d of the same production model. The GX pistons would get good if you're going NA.
just tell your friend to save up for some eagle rods and a set of lower compression pistons.
