Civic 99 Cluster Problem with Speedometer
Hi!
This is for someone how is willing to help me, and I would appreciate very much.
Recently my spedometer stopped working. It will point to 20 at all time, when the car starts moving the point arrow shakes between 20 and 40 and after speed is above 30 (km/h) it would stay there no matter what speed I am moving with. The odomoeter does not work as well. I tried to unplag the cable from the tranny, cleaned it and plugged it back in, no change.
While driving, it would start working and then in a bit it would stop again. It is not loose connection, because it does not change when i go through bumpy road. The car may be started and parked, it would turn on, the arrow will bo to 0, and in 3 min, it would go automatically to 20km/h again.
Do i need to get new cluster, or can this be somehow reset? I already tried unpluging the battery for 5 min, to reset the computer, it didnt help.
Thanks for whomever could give me a hint what to do

Re: Civic 99 Cluster Problem with Speedometer (mihaylm)
Do you have a friend with another civic? 96-00 any year in that range will do. Take out their cluster and plug it into your car. Turn the car on and drive around. If it does the same thing its not the cluster. If it is time to get a new/used on. ITR or GSR or SI anything. or you could find a used Civic one. they are pretty cheap. And for the sake of mileage you can get the dealership to help wind the mileage to match the real mileage.
