Check engine light problem

Check engine light problem
Hi!
Two days ago when driving (4th gear, 6000 rpm, very wet conditions) my engine check light came on...
The car is 1996 Civic coupe D16Y7 stock engine with everything stock...
I changed the exhaust manifold few months ago but I left the O2 sensor from the old maniold...
Now, this light is always on... I tried couple of things - thighten the gas cap, reseted the ECU (disconncted the battery for 15 minutes), removed teh backup fuse or 30 secs and then back on... nothing works, it is still on...
I don't even need to start the car... I turn the ignition key, fuel pump builds pressure and stops (and the light goes off) but in 3-4 seconds the light goes back on without starting the engine...
The thing is... I don't see any problems except my idle is too low (about 500 rpm) and CEL is on... that is the only problem...
The car runs very smoothly, does not hesitate neither on low or high revs, engine starts normally (cold and hot), idle is very smooth too (despte it is too low but i run 500 rpm smoothly without rpm oscilation), I even think the car runs kinda better now...
My question is... why did the CEL turn on (what can be wrong with the car) an why can't I reset that CEL with simple ECU reset...
So if anyone knows what can be wrong, I would be very grateful or any help...

Re: Check engine light problem (KKVTi)
you cant just reset the ecu if it still has the problem with the car. you need to pull the code and find out what the problem is. i really do not want to type out the instructions on how to pull the code, but try searching and you should be able to find it

I know how to pull the code and I am going to my local Honda dealer tomorrow but I wanna know as much as possible cos those asses love to rip off people... and I do not want to be ripped off...
So you say that ECU reset will not reset the error... but will the CEL turn off when I repair that problem or will I need to reset it somehow?

it will reset it when you fix the problem, just pull the negative terminal on the battery after you fix it
keep us updated

Re: Check engine light problem (blackhatchy)
Today I went to local dealer and he pulled out the error code... The O2 sensor was stone cold dead...
I replaced the sensor (300$ alltogether with work and PGM test) and now it is fine... they did some additional tests and adjustments on the intake manifold and now everything is OK...
I asked what will happen if CEL comes on again... the guy said that that means they haven't done the job right and that it will be repaired without any additional cost...
Sounds great to me...
