Default cheapest way to replace control arm bushings

Called up the shop $350 Labor to install new upper and lower control arm bushings-Not gonna happen. Next option was uninstalling conrol arms myself, and the next place wanted to charge me $20 per bushing. Why is it that all automotive places look to SCREW you any way they can? The most technical I've gotten was installing my intake and exhaust. Any info or advice would be appreciated. I know you can torch out the old ones , but is this a project that can be tackled by a newb with Haynes repair manual?

Are you replacing them with OEM bushings or Poly?

having a press is going to make the job a ton easier.. Even torching them, you will likely still need a press...

Its a long and boring task, but its worth it in the end...

They aren't looking to screw you. Its a day job with the right tools and a PITA. They are basically charging you labor for an entire day of using one of their people.

It's actually much cheaper to just get some aftermarket LCA's on ebay. Megan Racing, D2, SRR and other companies have good deals on ebay and they all come with removable polyurethane bushings and much higher tensile and rigid strength than the stock "play-doh" LCA's.
