Default Chassis Flex with High Springrates?

I asked in RR/AX forum but i guess it was the wrong forum.

Random question: if you had insanely high springrates, say 1200/800 and daily drove them. What ill effects could happen and how could you prevent these? Ill effects as in car, not on your stomach TIA

probably jus more wear and tear due to vibrations and all that pounding. on my car the rear view
mirror move alittle when i set my dampers at 5. i have 450 F 350 R and are on illumina's. not sure
what else it'll do to your car. for sure the ride will suck for a DD.

I think it would cause some chassis problems. Springs and shocks (shocks, primarily) are used to dampen the imperfections of the road (ie: bumps, potholes, cracks, etc) so that the chassis and people inside dont feel majority of it. Now, with a very stiff spring, there will be alot less damping that your shocks can do due to the rigidity of the spring. The energy transfer when you hit a bump/pothole/whatever will need to be transferred to someting. The spring/shock can only absorb a certain amount of that energy. The rest of the energy will be transmitted to the chassis and if that energy is strong enough, it will flex the chassis, thus weakening it in, longterm.

Just think of it this way, you strike a hammer at a rubber ball. It's able to dampen it very well and absorb the energy. Now, strike the hammer to your car's body. It absorbs in a manner that causes it to dent.

suggested answers tho? I'm thinking - spot welding the shock tower seems.

why the hell do u want a car that stiff? i would imagine that, even for a track car, a 2300 lb civic is gunna be way over-sprung with those rates. that would be almost the same as not having enough travel to shift wieght from side to side, which is a bad thing, but i have no personal experience with those rates. just my .02

your shock towers are spot welded. if you really want to increase the stiffness of the chassis you could seam weld it.
