Default EK oddities at the gas pump

so I cruise along, look at my gas gauge, it's on empty. fine. pull into a gas station, pump some gas in, pay, hop in my car, start it up, bam, it dies. try again, bam it dies. start it up, feather the gas, drive off, stop at a light, no problem.

it seems as if my car refuses to idle until the fuel line has built up enough vacuum to idle. now I don't know if I'm just crazy, but it happens every single time I fuel up. I've changed computers from the P2E to a P2T (civic si(r)) and still no change.

car stats:
00 civic dx hatch
stock B20Z

can't think of anything really that would cause this. any help or advice is appreciated.

does it on both computers though. I'm running the P2T because it works (throws an O2 code and a VTEC code, but it runs my IACV, the P2E does not for some reason. I am running the si(r) harness.)

any more ideas?

the car did this before the swap as well, but it went away. now it's doing the same thing again.

I can't really run an LS ecu anyway... not quite sure where you're going with that.

Does anybody think that this is related to the evap purge solenoid?

possibly. but isn't that controlled by the ecu? could the solenoid go faulty in a 3 year old car?

I'll double check my connections and wiring... but that's a good thought.

hmm..

my problem happens every single time I fuel up. I can hear the vacuum vanish and the problem goes from there.

it could be a bad seal on the gas cap.

FPR was changed with motor swap.

would anything else go wonky with a bad MPFI relay? and fuel pump.. wouldn't I run into other problems as well? gas cap seal.. interesting thought. I'll try another gas cap.

d series fuel pump, but I don't see how it could be the culprit if the same thing happened when the car was stock.

i have seen MPFI relays work then not work...depending on weather, and lots of things..

but heres a test....take your back seat out and then turn the car to run...not start..if you hear the fuel pump prime(slight whurrring noise from fuel tank) then the pump and probably relay is ok...

but if it only happens at certain times, then it will be hard to do it at that exact time

Mine starting doing that after switching to an OBD1 p72.

But ONLY after I go directly from the gas station from work. Its like a five minute ride, and the car only has a chance to just start warming up.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Mine did it after my mini-me using the same FPR, fuel pump, injectors, gas cap, and distributor as before and I am still D-series. I think that it has to be vacuum related or OBD2 to Obd1 related or maybe both.

it's not that I'm worried about it. I just want it to work. gassing it to keep the engine running while waiting for the vacuum to build sucks. (ha ha pun).

I wonder if it could have anything to do with the banjo fittings or washers or something. but I will try to change the gas cap once I get home. I have a couple from integras and other civics.
