Changing converter.
So today I became the proud owner of a '00 Civic Si. However, it did come with a check engine light and the only trouble code on the ECU was telling me that I needed to shell out $750 on a new converter. I simply have two questions. One, the mileage on the car is about 120,000, is this the normal time for the converter to fail or is it deemed premature? Two, I plan on replacing it myself so I wanted to double check on the process; it's basically unbolt the old, bolt in the new, and disconnect the negative terminal to reset the ECU, right?
And I ask ahead of time that no one waste their time suggesting that I buy an aftermarket converter to save money; it's my money and I prefer to go genuine OEM in this case. However, anyone with any other advice or information that could come in handy is certainly welcome and greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Re: Changing converter. (Hardedge)
CEL does not tell u to change converter..u would probably just need a new o2 sensor..run a diy CEL.and u will know what needs to be replaced..
besides u can get a nice brand new converter from any muffler shop for like $120..it does the job and it comes with warranty..i bought mine from a muffler shop 2 months ago..it is just a converter..it will meet the emission standard.

Well man if you pay 750 for a converter you might as well give me the money, it is most likely you p2 sensor and if you need to buy a converter it dont cost no 750 dollars. do you homework before you buy anything especially at that price
