after resetting my ecu and going back to check if it still had any codes nothing would happen the check engine light would just stay on. so i assumed it was ok that there was nothing wrong but i read in a thread that said if the check engine doesnt flash at all then my ecu is f*cked is that true?

please help

no, if the ECU is throwing a code it'll stay constant.

The only time it'll flash is if you put a jumper of some sort (such as a paperclip) in the diagnostic socket under the glovebox. It'll flash at that point and you just count the flashes and cross reference that with the code it's throwing

opps haha i did jump the ecu wires but when i would turn the key the ecu light would just stay on sorry for not making it clear in my first post.

it sounds like it's not jumped properly. if you're throwing a check engine light, you should be able to just stick a paperclip into the green plug under your glovebox. One end in each hole in the plug. Is this how you're doing it?

well im not throwing a code. let me go into details i guess.

i just got my car started again it was throwing a code 16 [fuel injectors]. after i got the car running again the code went away. but when i jumped the wires together it was still flashing the code 16.

thats when i reseted the ecu. my question is how do i know everything is okay. if the check engine light stays on while i have the key turned and the wires jumped does that mean its okay?

or

if i jump the wires and the check engine light isnt flashing is my ecu messed up? cuz i read in a thread that said if your ecu isnt flashing or anything or what they called a code 0 then your ecu is fried
