CEL Code 15, limp mode, searched tons. . . please help!

Default CEL Code 15, limp mode, searched tons. . . please help!

Ok. My car went into limp mode and I got CEL on around 3 days ago. Drove my Honda Tractor home lol, and at home started unplugging and replugging things. I turn it back on, and no CEL, no limp mode. Took a test drive, drove wonderfuly. It happened again yesterday, got a CEL but no limp mode. Did the whole unplugging replugging thing, and it went away again. TODAY, I got CEL AND Limp mode, and have tried over and over, and it stays CEL ON and Limp mode on . I got CEL code 7, which is TPS, and 15, which is ignition. My question is, if I can get it to work after unplugging and replugging, does that mean my ignition shouldn't be bad and it should be a faulty plug or something? I would think that if the ignition is gone bad, it should STAY bad and not just function correctly all of a sudden like it has done. It's a 94 EG2 VTEC, Chipped ECU ( Chrome ). The chip was done many months ago. Basic I/H/E. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you need a new TPS. If the TPS is going bad, but not necessarily bad then you will have an intermittent problem. The limp mode is to keep your car from detonating and allowing you to get home with your vehicle. I'd do some testing on your TPS and see what happens.

How do I test it? Checking the volts in WOT and while the throttle is in idle? I only know what I've read here in H-T lol please guide me. I know its 2.5 while under no throttle and 4.5 under WOT?

I'm not sure of the specifics without pulling a service manual out. Hopefully someone will post or you'll have luck with a search. Is it volts, or ohms of resistance?

With the key on and the engine off you should have .5v with the throttle closed and 4.5v at wot.

You also want to check for any "flat spots" as in move the throttle open slowly and watch the voltages. The voltage should go up smoothly and if you see the voltage suddenly drop off then it is time for a new TPS.
