I've ridden around for the past 2 years with a CEL code 54 (crankshaft speed fluctuation sensor). A diagnostic test was performed on the sensor awhile back, and it turned out good, so I have no idea why code 54 refuses to go away.

That's the background info and now to my main question. About a month ago, I was driving and the CEL rather than staying constantly lit (as it always does), it blinked. I've never had a blinking CEL ever. When I got the car home, I checked for the CEL code, and returned code 54 again.

Anyone know why my CEL blinked or why CEL blinks in general?

Also, does anyone have experience with code 54 and how to get rid of it. Having the CEL always lit is annoying.

Did they test the sensor through the diagnostic port, or from the connection to the engine harness?

i thought that if the cel blinked, it means that the cat is melting?
i may be wrong though.

I believe the cell is blinking it means there is a problem that could damage your engine quickly
