It will be louder, yes.
Just smash out the guts of the converter and bolt it back up if you want to save some time/money.

well if you're from california good luck with that test pipe - so yea, id knock the guts out of it and buy an o2 sensor simulator this way you can try and get away with it

Just put a test pipe on it. It wont be a whole lot louder. Just a tad than what it may be now.

your better off with a less restrictive cat. hollowing out your current one or gettin a test pipe is
1. going to make you car sound like crap.
2. not allow you to pass emissions in california (not sure if a free flow applies).
3. not going to give that much horsepower.
don't listen to these goons, if you only have bolt ons, then doing this is useless.

putting on a test pipe isnt going to do **** but lose low end torque, which you have close to none of, but do what you want

the stock cat is not a major restriction until the engine is moving lots of air

Re: (doood)
if you really want a test pipe sell your cat and make your own pipe... you will end up making money off of that... except i see your from ca which will make it impossible to pass a smog... hahaha cali is so lame

DONT DO IT! since i dealt with this same situation and it was the worst decision i made. my cat was gone so decided to put a test pipe.
- i hated the way my car sounded
- car felt like crap when i was driving
- car smelled like exhuast and i hated it
- i had a little bit of exhuast leak
- u wont pass smog
now i have a cat on there and it runs allot better, im not embarrassed no more because my car doesnt have the ugly raspy sound to it when i hit 3k rpm. Its now back to a more quieter deep sound.
