Default cat. converter rattles?

for some reason my car is always making a loud/very annoying rattle right by the cat and the header. I dont know know why it rattles. It has both bolts with springs on each side where the header collector and downpipe connect. Is it my cat that needs to be replaced??

Does it still have the heat shield connected?

I had the same problem. I got under my car last night and the bolts holding the heat shield around the exhaust coming off of the header had rusted through and was just hanging there. So I took it off and the rattle is gone.

If the heat shield is clear of the cat, a lot of the times on the cheaper "high flow" cat, the honeycomb on the inside breaks loose and that'll cause a nice rattle to make your car sound like **** .

Carsound makes a quality weld-on one. Goes for about $110 on inlinefour.com.
Oem style and 50-state legal sticker on it. Have never heard of it failing inspection.
