well i have a civic hatch, with a d15b jdm vtec crate engine swap in it.

sometimes when i start it it will turn over but not start, and if i wait a minute and do it a couple times then it starts. it keeps doing this off and on and its getting worse. im thinking maybe it could be a fuel filter? any help would help alot

also my car is burning alot of fuel im getting like 15mpg but my car still is running really strong like a brand new engine when im driving it. just burns way too much fuel and i can smell it

its always ran perfect though. how would the timing cause it to only start of the time? i was leaning more towards it being the fuel filter or maybe fuel pump going out? idk any advice would help alot

What was the original engine that was in it? Did you change out the ECU when you swapped engines?

ya i changed out the ecu, like i said it ran perfect before it did this. the problem ended up just being i needed a new fuel filter

IMO it's the dizzy going out.

def dizzy. i had the same problem and couldnt figure it out for months. after i changed main sensor, fuel filter and fuel pump.

I had a problem just exactly like that. It would not start and just turn over. If I kept trying eventually it would start. My problem was the fuel pump relay, found under the driver side dash down and to the left.
Next time this happens, turn the key into the on position without trying to start the car. Just on. Listen for the fuel pump to prime. If you dont hear it then it most likely is the relay. You can get one used on ebay from a salvage yard for around $30. If not the relay, then it could be the pump.
I did that and it worked great. No problems starting since.
