car not starting... no crank or clicking
So I got a 93 del sol w/ 150,000 miles the other day and aimlessly drove it around the neighborhood all day since its not registered yet.. everything was fine (i probably started it about 10 times) until this evening when it wouldnt start at all. all the accesories are getting power and we can still push start the car (its manual) but nothing happens if you just turn the key. you hear a little hiss/whine for about two seconds then nothing, no crank or click or anything. could this be a problem with the main relay? thanks for the help

well from what i got out of how you described it, it sounded like when you turned the car to start it, it was absolutely silent, no cranking or anything. its obviously not fuel related, b/c you heard your fuel pump priming. Its not your battery if your getting your ACC lights (clustler battery light, oil light will come on, radio etc.) If you try turning it over, and nothing, that would mean that your starter isn't getting any voltage. This is pretty common, locate your starter, (if your looking in the engine bay, its on the left hand side above, tranny, and there will be a female connector that goes to the starter. its hard to see, so its best to either be daylight or a bright flash light. That connector will go into the starter, and that has a tendency of popping off. Reconnect that and your good to go.

u got no starter signal find out if your starter is still good hit the starter and see if its un jams itself or check if its something else not allowing the starter to recieve a signal but it sounds like u just have a bad starter

Re: (Benzo2NED)
It can be key cylinder, main relay, or starter problem...
First check the wire that goes from starter directly to the battery + pole
There have been several posts here about main relay so SEARCH and you will find how to find the relay, take it off and inspect it...
Maybe it's just your battery getting too weak...
SEARCH and I bet you will find your answer...
Good luck!
